How it started...
It was March 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic made its way to the United States and state governments were beginning to communicate the dangers and concerns about the virus. Some cities had begun to shut down, including mine. People were scared. People wanted to be in community. People wanted to move.
Enter some of my closest friends.
These girlfriends called me and asked me to stretch them via Zoom. I thought they were joking because this crew was notorious for teasing me about my morning routine; a routine that they had been exposed to over the years from our travels. It's a routine that included stretching! I thought they were joking because how did we go from teasing to interest to request? The pandemic was truly revelatory!
What started with me stretching some of my closest girlfriends on Zoom led to others inquiring and expressing interest. I quickly sensed a need and decided to pursue it. I figured if this subset was interested in moving, in community, with some music and a few jokes, others may be too! I put my engineering and business hats on. I gave myself two weeks to launch The Stretch Room®. I can be a bit of a perfectionist so I needed to set a launch date that wasn't too far into the future which would give me less opportunity to over rotate on details that others may not even notice! I also know from my product development experience that I just needed something that was "good enough" to start. I could update and tweak from there.
So, The Stretch Room® launched with my first group of paying clients on April 15, 2020 - Tax Day! I chose Tax Day on purpose.
I've been stretching individuals at corporate, community, and organizational events since then and I love what we have created!
